French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

French-door refrigerators are a perfect blend of form and function. They have stylish double doors that show the large fridge on top and a freezer drawer below. These refrigerators stand out because of their distinctive features, like through-the-door dispensers and higher-end Ice makers.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and the founder of LS Projects - for her suggestions on how to pick the right one. They considered storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name implies that the GE Profile series targets those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchen. The refrigerator is brimming with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a clever water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is an extra amount, I'd like to see higher quality.

Apart from that minor flaw, this fridge is a great option. It has a huge freezer compartment that is not common for counter-depth French-door fridges. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.

They're easy to open and close, however I found their textured plastic coatings to be a little hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator is equipped with a complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge at this price, including Wi-Fi and app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also offers a lot of customization options. It also sends you notifications when a door is left open, when the refrigerator or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill it's an option in a handful of other GE refrigerators that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to pour out simultaneously. It does have a countdown feature on the fridge display to show how much water you have remaining, but that's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Created to appear like a seamless part of your kitchen Bosch's French-door refrigerator looks seamless and is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors to preserve food. The Ice maker is among the most efficient we've ever tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice that is low in use of water. This fridge is the perfect option for households with a single member or kitchenettes looking for a sleek design and top-of-the-line food preservation.

The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators test, for several reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed by more than a fraction, this is crucial to avoid the risk of a freezer burn. The fridge section of the refrigerator also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within a matter of hours, and remained at the temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch has a reputation for top-of-the-line appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app lets you monitor and control your fridge remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is pricey and has great features and capabilities at a reasonable price.

While the fridge is an incredible appliance, it's important to know the limitations. You might need to be inventive with tall items since the fridge is limited in shelf space. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great choice for those who require plenty of space in the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features a standard French-door layout with gallon-sized door bins at each door and two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more room. There's also a full-width storage drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker, making it easy to move the frozen ice as needed. The freezer also comes with thoughtful design features, such as sliding drawers that help you organize your items. It also has a large container for storing frozen food and a separate container for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a good way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially when you're away from home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't necessarily enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. This fridge took longer to chill food and defrost it than some others we tested. This is likely due to the larger capacity.

The doors are another problem with this refrigerator. The sunken handles allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a hard time closing them without slamming. It would have been better if these had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good choice for those who want to combine the advantages of a fridge with a French door with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a bit cheaper than the best non plumbed french door fridge counter depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which makes it a great option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

That's a good performance however it doesn't rank among the best in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of stainless steel with a grey body that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It repels fingerprints and streaks better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
