Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to mark the centennial of the company. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a fluttering 'B' paperweight, a set of keys, and a brochure with never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

As a design-centric company Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting, the selection of leather from by-products of cattle, the wood from sustainably managed forests and the innovative patterns on its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you drive by with its striking sculptural appeal and power by carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top car. The rear tonneau of the Continental GT, for instance was the largest piece ever of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after automobile brand worldwide due to its bespoke design and craftsmanship. The company continues pushing boundaries with the latest technology and craftsmanship. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear window sunroof and a crafted Apple iPad docking station.

Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary in the year 2019 100 years after the marque was established. Design

Bentley's Mulliner division allows customers to design their car. Bentley estimates that it takes about 500 man-hours to construct and construct the Mulsanne. The refusal to embrace modern technology is the key to this laborious task. The Crewe factory workers don't utilize a machine for arranging perfectly-matched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. And rather than using the car's built-in sensors to guide it into parallel and perpendicular parking spots the drivers must do it manually.

Edition pays tribute to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley.
